One of the best breaks when driving down to the Keys can be found at
The Island Fish Co. at Mile Marker 54 in Marathon.
The best seats at the Island Fish Company are right on the docks and
in full view of power boats and jet skis. The possibility of making
new friends are all around.
While there why not get a bucket of Steamers and long necks? In the mood for something straight from the sea? Well, this is the place to go to. With oysters, shrimp, stone crabs, conch, and calamari to start off with you can sit back, relax, and truly enjoy yourself and your view. Nothing could be fresher than a place right on the water and the next time I stop by I will have The Grilled Seafood Wrap with shrimp, scallops, spinach and a verde sauce that is perfect for lunch. There is a large selection of salads and you can add fried oysters, chicken, shrimp, dolphin, or grouper for a little extra kick. We've also tried the Fish sandwich at lunch, which might be considered rather commonplace, but is nonetheless quite tasty. The fries and onion rings are also very good. The Island Fish Company entrees include items other than seafood like filet mignon, NY Strip, sirloin steak and burgers. But the seafood rules and the Grilled Dolphin and Shrimp Tempura are a favorite. Don't forget about Pastas, they have a Basilico with vine ripe tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, parmesan cheese, and fresh basil over linguini, Clams or Mussels Marinara, Shell Fish Lovers Pasta, Key West Shrimp Fra Diavlo which is sassy, Key West Shrimp Diane that is Cajun and has sauteed mushrooms, scallions, garlic and white wine, as well as Key West Shrimp Scampi over linguini as well. The Island Fish Co. is a definite must stop for anyone needing a break on the way to Key West. Crack open a cold one-even if it is an oyster! |
