According to
Ellegedly.com Lance Bass & Reichen Call It Quits |
|
The split - which happened very recently
-
was a mutual decision. "They had been
fighting a lot lately," says one source.
"They tried a lot of things to make
it work - even opening up the relationship - but they would just fight all the
time towards the end. It wasn't working." |

Holiday Lights at Enchanted Place |
|
For the 15th year in a row
the residents along N.E. 137 Terrace in North Miami will once again make their
neighborhood come alive with holiday spirit by decorating their homes with
hundreds of thousands of lights in a magical display called "Holiday Lights
at Enchanted Place". The homes will be on display starting December 8th
and running through December 31 from
6:30 pm to
11:00 pm each evening. As
cars pass down the street taking in the amazing light displays, Care Resource
employees and volunteers will be on the street to hand out candy to the kids
(who might even get a glimpse of Santa who makes a stop at the Enchanted Place
from time to time to check on his elves). This is a free event to everyone, and
there are volunteers along the street if someone would like to make a donation.
100% of the collected donations go to Care Resource to help in the medical care
of those affected and infected with HIV/AIDS. |

M·A·C AIDS Fund
and
Dita von Teese |
|
The M·A·C AIDS Fund,
the charitable arm of M·A·C Cosmetics, announces
today that VIVA GLAM VI Spokesperson, and
internationally-renowned Burlesque performer Dita von
Teese, will embark on a world tour to raise
awareness for HIV prevention. Her performance titled
‘Lipteese’ will debut at the
Delano
on
December 7th during Art Basel Miami
and will continue to
Sydney, Seoul, Los Angeles, New York and Toronto.
Dita will perform a specially-choreographed
burlesque-style act that will involve riding a seven
foot M·A·C VIVA GLAM lipstick. The purpose
of
the tour is to help raise awareness for HIV prevention
and instigate people to talk about this important
issue. In addition to the tour, Dita will visit
charities, in tour cities, that focus on HIV prevention
programs that the MAC AIDS Fund has supported. The
costume theme is a burlesque cowgirl designed by
Catherine D'lish, who does all of Dita’s costumes,
and the hat is by Stephen Jones and boots by
Christian Louboutin. Thousands of Swarovski crystals
will complete the dramatic and sexy look. “The Viva
Glam lipstick is the sole fundraiser for the M·A·C AIDS
Fund which has raised 80 million dollars, so why not
make this the focal piece of my performance. I think
this is an entertaining and provocative way to bring
much needed attention to the serious subject of HIV
prevention” says Dita. The Miami-based
Care Resource will be the first recipient, as part of
the tour, to receive funding from the M·A·C AIDS Fund
for its HIV prevention work in the gay community for men
who have sex with men. Dita will visit
Care Resource
the day after her performance debut to tour the facility
and visit a HIV mobile testing unit which The M·A·C AIDS
Fund funds. The first step in prevention is getting
tested to know your status and stop from unknowingly
spreading the virus. The M·A·C AIDS Fund, the heart and
soul of M·A·C cosmetics, was established in 1994 to
support men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS
globally. M·A·F gives money to fund education,
awareness and prevention programs world-wide and
provides financial support to organizations serving
those with HIV/AIDS and marginalized populations at a
high risk of infection. For more information, visit

America’s First
Free Gay Station Comes Alive
WGAY-TV to Come out JAN 1,
2007 |
The New Year will also feature the debut of a
New Station aimed at the GLBT audience. Located in Key
West, WGAY-TV will be the first, over the air,
free gay TV station in the country.... and online at
http://wgay.tv/
.
WGAY-TV will launch live on-line at 12AM on
January 1, 2007, offering free programming accessible
from anywhere in the world… WGAY-TV will also be
expanding to cable systems across the U.S. in 2007, with
its initial launch exclusively on Key West cable
systems. "Our goal is to offer a variety of free
programming
both
online and through local cable affiliates, that will
appeal to the diverse gay and lesbian population."
Said Jason Sherwood, General Manager & Co-Founder
of WGAY-TV. Sherwood added, “It's
exciting for us to create the concept that gay and
lesbian vacationers in
Key West will have a local network dedicated to them." "A station
they can watch from the comfort of a hotel room on their
Key West vacation or back at home when they go online.”
WGAY-TV will be developing and creating original
material that is fun, positive and entertaining to
everyone visiting key west and abroad. The station will
interchange original programming produced in Key West,
as well as, featuring content from Pride Nation’s
extensive library of programming. Continued Sherwood,
“We feel offering this added content will help brand
the networks birth here in
Key West.”
Key West is one of the top destinations for Gay and
Lesbian tourists, with Gay consumers spending $55
billion a year on travel, Studies have estimated that
the adult GLBT community has a total economic spending
power of more than $641 billion per year, according to
Wietck Combs (2006). It has also been found that for
every one dollar invested in gay tourism
marketing, $153 was returned in direct economic spending
in shops, hotels, restaurants and attractions (Community
Marketing Inc. 2006), making the GLBT community a viable
niche audience for travel and entertainment. |

GLCC New Building Update |
|
 |
|
Despite delayed time frames
associated with the City approval process, steady progress is being made with
the GLCC’s new building project. Tarragon Corporation obtained unanimous
Design and Review, Planning and Zoning, and City Commission approvals from the
City of Fort Lauderdale in Summer/Fall of this year. With approved
exterior building plans in place, construction plans are now being developed.
Once construction plans are completed in Spring 2007, building permit
applications will be submitted for the new site on the East side of
North Andrews Avenue,
directly across the street from the current GLCC location. Interior space
planning for the 3 story-18,000 square foot structure is underway—utilizing
community input obtained from the GLCC’s ongoing Strategic Planning survey. “Community
input is central to our planning process” states Paul Hyman,
Executive Director. “Individuals are invited to complete the survey at our
website:
www.glccsf.org. So far we have received more than 200 responses. More are
welcomed!” The GLCC will remain in its existing location until further
notice, during the construction of the new building. Contingency plans are
being made for temporary space if it is needed during construction. "Tarragon looks
forward to its continued positive working relationship with the GLCC to meeting
our mutual goal of beginning construction on the new Center in 2007", states
Michael R. Greenberg, Executive Vice President, Tarragon Corporation.
Another significant Tarragon project, The Exchange, presents an authentic
continuation of the celebrated lofts of Tribeca,
Chicago and
Boston
in the historic former Southern Bell Telephone Company building. The
accompanying rendering highlights West and South elevations of the new GLCC
building. Its contemporary style features a second story terrace above the main
entrance and ample sources of natural lighting. For more information please call
Paul Hyman, Executive Director at 954-463-9005. |

Pride
Factory
is moving
|
|
Pride Factory
is moving – but they are not going very far. One of the
area’s premiere GLBT retail stores is relocating about a
mile north of their current home. With the new digs at
850 NE 13th Street in Fort Lauderdale,
Pride Factory will
expand
their selection of mainstream and adult movies, adult
novelties, apparel, underwear, swimwear, pride items,
books and music. “Relocating to this larger space
allows us to enhance our inventory and better serve the
Fort Lauderdale GLBT community,” said Pride Factory
Regional Manager Rocky Bowell. Moving also
facilitates the introduction of fetish items to the
retail mix and adds additional parking spots. The
store’s phone and fax numbers will be unchanged, as will
the URL. Plans for a grand re-opening celebration are in
progress. Renovations are being taken on by Great
Scot Enterprises. Meantime, the current Federal
Highway location will remain open.If Pride Factory’s new
address sounds familiar it’s because it’s the former
home of Catalog Xtreme. For more information,
visit
http://www.PrideFactory.com. |
