On
Saturday
I headed over to
Scandals
which has turned out to be packed every Saturday with sexy Country men, and
their admirers. This is what they used to call a real men’s bar!! The dance
floor was hopping all night long with line dancing and all your other country
favorites, and the drinks are real cheap. All you have to do is drive by any
Saturday and you will see the K-Mart parking lot filed with cars!! Congrats to
owners Ken and
Lloyd
and to my sister GM
Howard Merritt
on a job well done!!!! |

World Renowned
Film Instructor Dov Simens To Teach 2-day Film School In Miami
|
|
The creator of
the Hollywood Film Institute, Dov Simens, will be offering his highly
acclaimed 2-Day Film School on August 25th and 26th
in Miami , Florida . The class, which has been attended and praised by some of
the industry's elite, will take place at the Doubletree Hotel Coconut Grove
between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. "After taking Dov's course, I made She's Gotta Have
It and launched my career," said American film
director/producer/writer/actor Spike Lee. Dov's students have made over
400 films, which have totaled more than six billion dollars in box office
revenue. Past attendees of his 2-day film school, in addition to Lee, have
included Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino, and Guy Ritchie. The
event is hosted by Women in Film and Television-Florida (WIFT-FL),
in association with Florida's Future Filmmakers. Sponsors of the event
include G-Star School of the Arts for Motion Pictures & Broadcasting, The
Governor's Office of Film & Entertainment, Miami/Dade County Office of Film &
Entertainment and The City of Miami Beach/Office of Film and Event Production
Management. Jennifer Pennypacker, President of WIFT-FL, sees it as a
great opportunity for anyone serious about the film business. "Whether you
are currently in the business, trying to break in, or just curious about how
feature films get made, this course will be eye-opening for anyone who attends."
The course tackles the entire filmmaking process from start to finish with Dov's
famous 38 steps as the heart of the course. "For every feature film, whether
your budget is $10,000 or $100 million, you are going to write thirty-eight
checks," says Simens. "The 2-Day film school takes you through each one
of those steps, explains the nuts and bolts and shows you how to complete a
feature film for a small budget." The course also tackles subjects outside
of the production of feature film, including securing investment, marketing and
distribution, the film festival circuit, and much more. The cost of the 2-Day
course is $389.00, with discount rates for members of WIFT- Florida, Florida's
Future Filmmakers, and Film Florida. The Doubletree Hotel Coconut Grove is also
offering a discounted rate of $109 per night for all attendees of the event. For
