Under a
new multi-year deal with event producer Johnny Chisholm, Centaur is
thrilled to be producing the official CD for the award-winning events of One
Mighty Weekend in
Orlando.
One Mighty Weekend includes a series of pool parties and dance events on Disney
properties and other nearby locations that attract more than 135,000 people from
all over the world. Party Groove: One Mighty Weekend is mixed by
Dj Kimberly S. and will be released on May 30. "I am very
excited about the release of the inaugural One Mighty Weekend CD," says
Johnny Chisholm. "It has been a pleasure working with Centaur and I look
forward to many more exciting CDs to follow." Dj Kimberly S., a familiar
marquee name at Chisholm's series of annual events in Orlando, New Orleans and
Pensacola, makes her second appearance on the Centaur label with another
high-octane blend of progressive house, soaring vocals and hip shaking beats.
Song selections include hits from Billboard #1 artists Angie Stone, Loleatta
Holloway, Antoine Clamaran and remixes from today's top producers including
Chus Estaban (of Chus & Ceballos), DJ Fist and Freemasons.
The ten track mix also includes newcomer Jacques Bauer's saucy and
commanding "Grade A Bitch," plus a high energy disco mix of "Set Me
Free" from
Ventura vs
Haarmeyer.
"Party Groove: One Mighty Weekend
is a mix that will rival my prior commercial releases," says Kimberly
from the studio in Los Angeles where she teaches martial arts part-time. "This
is absolutely my best CD mix to date and I am very proud of the final result."
Kimberly has traveled throughout the U.S., Canada and Asia over the past year
headlining major events including Centaur's annual Global Groove Tour, Circuit
Asia, Winter Party and Gay Day Anaheim. Kimberly appears in the One Mighty
Weekend event schedule as the featured DJ for Beach Ball at Disney's Typhoon
Lagoon on June 2. |

Margaret Cho joins Gay Games
|
Comedian
Margaret Cho has been confirmed to join the slate of internationally
known celebrities set to participate in the July 15 Opening Ceremony of the
2006 Chicago Gay Games. The ceremony will take place in the 60,000-seat
Soldier Field, the historic home of
U.S. professional football's Chicago Bears.
Tickets are now on sale at Tickets.GayGamesChicago.org. Gay Games VII is
expected to host 12,000 participants from some 70 countries in Chicago July
15-22. "How could I not participate in an event where 60,000 gay and
lesbian-friendly people will fill an entire American football stadium? The irony
alone is fantastic," said Cho. "Seriously, the Gay Games have become the
pinnacle of athletic competition and international fellowship in the world's
LGBT community, and I wouldn't miss being a part of the Opening Ceremony."
Cho joins a slate of more than 60 music, television, arts, culture and sports
legends from around the world performing in the 2006 Gay Games Opening & Closing
Ceremonies. "More than any one element of the event, the opening ceremony
carries the power and personal transformation that embodies the Gay Games as a
life-changing experience," said Kile Ozier, ceremonies director. "Margaret
Cho is an icon for so many people, and especially for the gay and lesbian
community with whom she seems to have such a direct connection. The closing
ceremony is Saturday, July 22, at Wrigley Field, home to baseball's
legendary Chicago Cubs. "Bam Bam & Celeste," a movie written by
and starring Margaret and Bruce Daniels, is currently screening at
various film festivals around the globe. In 1999, Margaret's groundbreaking
smash-hit one-woman show "I'm The One That I Want" played Off Broadway,
toured the U.S., and became a best selling book and a feature film. Cho's second
show, "Notorious C.H.O.," culminated with a concert at Carnegie Hall
which was taped for a double-sided CD release in 2002 and a second feature film.
In 2003, Margaret's "Revolution" tour grossed over 4 million in ticket
sales, playing in over 60 cities. The CD version was nominated for a Grammy and
the DVD sold 100,000 units within 2 months of release. In 2005, Margaret again
toured the U.S. as well as to sold-out crowds in Australia & London with her "Assassin"
tour. "Assassin" was then released in theatres and on DVD. She also released her
second book, "I Have Chosen To Stay and Fight," published by Riverhead
Books. Great protectors of the First Amendment like Lenny Bruce and
George Carlin have paved her way, but Margaret has a distinctive,
individualistic, and ultimately empowering personal voice. She has remained a
one-of-a-kind artist because she has always insisted on being herself and has
resisted being made over by the mainstream media. Her audience is huge and
underserved – gays and lesbians, Asians, women, people of color, college
students, comedy fans, and basically anyone who has ever felt invisible.
Margaret was recently honored by the ACLU of Southern California with
their First Amendment Award and received the National Organization for
Women (NOW)'s 2003 Intrepid Award. She also has been recognized by GLAAD,
Lambda Legal, the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF) and the Asian
American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF) for making a significant
difference in promoting equal rights for all, regardless of race, sexual
orientation or gender identity. For further information on Margaret Cho, visit
www.margaretcho.com.
Following her opening ceremony appearance, Margaret Cho will appear in concert
on Sunday, July 16, at the Chicago Theatre. Global sponsors of Gay Games VII
include Lexiva; Logo; PlanetOut/Gay.com; Walgreen's; Q Television Network;
Centaur Entertainment; Fleishman Hillard International Communications; Orbitz;
McKnight Kurland Baccelli; The New York Times; Olivia Cruises & Resorts; Windy
City Media Group; Absolut Vodka; American Airlines; Athletico; Chicago Free
Press; Chicago Sun-Times; Genre; Girlfriends; Human Rights Campaign; Lambda
Legal Defense; Sydney New Mardi Gras; Mate Magazine; Pink Magazine; and more
than 210 business sponsors. For information about how to sponsor or

Peter has few equals when it comes to achievements within the
worldwide dance music scene. With over 300 Billboard charting
hits, Peter is the only Grammy winning DJ and producer on
the scene today! He has spent the last twenty years establishing
himself as a force to be reckoned with in an industry where many
merely come and go. His *69 label has an unparallel
roster of chart-topping artists including Suzanne Palmer,
Oscar G., Offer Nissim, Saeed & Palash, Robbie Rivera,
Celeda and Chus & Ceballos. An Anthem resident since 2004,
Peter has embraced our culture - playing at virtually every
major event destination while continuing to reign over the dance
floors of New York
with his adrenaline rushing sets. Peter will start the night at
10pm sharp and take you on the journey of journeys until the

passion and love for dance music. She has one of the most
distinctive and unique styles of any DJ working in the world

tribal and underground domestic house, minus a lot of the big
hits, she creates a soundscape that leads her audience on a
complete musical journey. The level of energy and range of
emotion that she brings to a dance floor is legendary among her
fans, and is well known for her cool, relaxed, self-affirming
musical vibe. After more than 20 years working in the world of
music, Susan has earned a reputation of being musically
tasteful, versatile, selective and creative.

Miami Gay & Lesbian Film
Festival Event |
|
Committed to bringing you entertaining and important works
of cinema The Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival
(MGLFF) kick's off it's Monthly Screening
Series on Tuesday, June 13th with an encore presentation of ILLUSIVE
TRACKS, the sleeper favorite from our 2005 festival. Still without any
US Distributor, this may be your only chance to see this wonderfully
over-the-top Swedish gem. On a train hurtling across snowy
Europe in 1945, a killer waits to strike. A
depressed old
bohemian queen ingests a euphoria-inducing drug and can’t stop laughing. A nun
loses her faith, takes up smoking and turns murderous. A soul-searching author
intent on helping with war relief ends up maiming and bludgeoning a poor young
soldier in a series of gruesome mishaps; impossibly, the soldier maintains his
sunny optimism. And somewhere on this train, behind one of those stubbornly
sticky compartment doors, blooms secret same-sex romance. Its part Hitchcock,
part Mel Brooks, part Scream and part Airplane, a madcap
mystery romp that never loses steam. Illusive Tracks is far more than an homage
to old slapstick and film noir, though for movie buffs, there are certainly sly
references aplenty. With eye-popping black-and-white photography, beautiful
period production design, a dazzling ensemble cast, and a roaringly clever
script that milks every throwaway moment for all it’s worth, this is a cinematic
tour-de-force in a genre all its own. Writer/director Peter Dalle is a
mad genius who lets us in on his delirious love affair with movies, and takes us
on a train ride we never want to end. And if you see a soiled-looking Santa
lunging down the corridor with a fire-ax, just turn around quickly and head to
the bar car for another glass of port. Tuesday, June 13th at 8:00 PM
Sunrise Cinemas Gateway 1820 E. Sunrise Blvd @ US 1 & NE 18th Ave (at the
big curve) $9 Members/ $12 Non-Members. To purchase tickets in advance call
305-531-2117. Get a free drink with your ticket stub at New Moon
Bar at 2440 Wilton
Dr in Wilton Manors, across from Hamburger Mary's which is the official after
party. |
