The Clean House |
|
Picture a
successful married couple, both doctors, who hire a Brazilian,
Portuguese-speaking maid who hates to clean. Enter the wife’s sister who loves
to clean. The husband, who’s been keeping a secret, witnesses the explosive
results of its disclosure. And the maid ultimately delivers the perfect punch
line, in Portuguese. This is the comedy The Clean House by
Sarah Ruhl, the 32-year-old Pulitzer Prize-nominee playwright who has
captured the attention
and acclaim of critics worldwide for her brilliant wit.
She tackles a myriad of subjects in, as Variety said, “an original and
audacious voice.” The New York Times has been singing Ms. Ruhl’s praises and
describes The Clean House as. “Fresh, funny … a memorable
play, imbued with a melancholy but somehow comforting
philosophy: that the messes and disappointments of life are as much a part of
its beauty as romantic love and chocolate ice cream, and a perfect punch line
can be as sublime as the most wrenchingly lovely aria.” Directed by
Michael Hall, The Clean House features Karina Barros (Matilde),
Dennis Creaghan (Charles), Pat Nesbit
(Lane), Harriet Oser (Ana) and Cary Anne
Spear (Virginia), with scenic design by Tim Bennett, costumes by
Erin Amico and lighting by John Hall. The Clean House April
8,– May 20, takes place at Caldwell Theater in Boca. Comedy by Sarah Ruhl
Hot off its extended, Lincoln Center Theater run, The Clean House
is smart, contemporary, alluring, funny, and as Charles Isherwood in
The New York Times said, a play that is “romantic, deeply so … visionary,
tinged with fantasy, extravagant in feeling, maybe a little nuts.” Written
by “a provocative new theatrical voice.” TICKETS: $36 & $42.
Previews: $32 & $36. Opening Night Gala: $45 on April 13. Call the Box office
at
561-241-7432. |

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie |
|
Meatwad, Frylock
and Master Shake are fast-food ready to blast into theatres nationwide on
April 13 in the new animated film, Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Colon Movie Film for
Theaters. The
film, spawned from Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim" mega hit TV series Aqua
Teen Hunger Force, has fans salivating to see their not-so
crime-fighting superheroes (or shall we say burger, fries and a shake)
super-sized on the big movie screen in an action-adventure epic that tackles the
mysterious circumstances that brought the threesome together.
With the
release of the film, Dana Snyder, who provides the voice of Master Shake, will
be in South Florida for opening weekend of the film. Dana will make a special
appearance as part of Anime Supercon (the largest Anime Convention in
South Florida) at The Inverrary Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, April 13-15.
To kick-off the event, Anime Supercon plans to offer tickets for two evening
showings on opening night, Friday, April 13, featuring an audience Q&A with
Snyder. Ticket cost and theatre to be announced. Advance tickets will be made
available on the Anime Supercon website and at the convention on opening day.
The premise of Aqua
Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters
surrounds an immortal piece of exercise equipment that threatens the balance of
galactic peace, and it is up to the Aqua Teen Hunger Force to run away from it.
Complicating matters, the Plutonians team up with the Cybernetic Ghost of
Christmas Past for ultimate control of the deadly device. Spanning the globe,
outer space and even time itself, Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for
Theaters was written and produced by Matt Maiellaro and Dave
Willis. It is based on their successful Adult Swim series. Reprising their
roles in the movie will be Willis (voice of Carl, Meatwad and Ignignokt)
and Maiellaro (Err, Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past), Dana Snyder
(Master Shake), Carey Means (Frylock), Andy Merrill and Mike
Schatz (The Plutonians). Guest stars including Larry Blackmon and
T-Man of platinum-selling funk band Cameo, Neil Peart of power
trio Rush and Bruce Campbell. Released by First Look Pictures. The
film is rated R for
crude and sexual
humor, violent images and language.
