largest gay club tour from the nation's #1 gay dance

expanded to include a Spring and a Fall segment, with
two of
America's
most popular club DJs, David Knapp and Kimberly S.,
confirmed to headline the Spring Tour. Each segment of
the 2007 Global Groove Tour will visit 25 cities around
the country. "The Global Groove phenomenon is taking
the brand to new heights in 2007," says Centaur's
Chief Operating Officer Jamie Baxter. "In

offering more events, more DJs and even more great music
from the Global Groove CD series." Never before has
a CD dance brand undertaken such an extensive tour
promotion that is as inclusive and wide reaching as
Global Groove. The best dance club venues will host
the Global Groove Tour schedule, including international
hot spots, several lesbian parties and a launch party
aboard the RSVP Cruise to the Caribbean. Each
domestic venue will also be outfitted with prizes to
give away, while each person who attends will receive a
special gift bag that includes items from the Global
Groove Tour Sponsors. Instinct Magazine and Here
Interactive Media have joined the Global Groove Tour
as National Media Sponsors, making it the most highly
publicized tour event in the gay community this year

Nationwide
Search For Two Missing Girls |
|
GLSEN South
Florida
has been asked to share the following call for
assistance to locate two Maryland teens who have not
been seen since Jan. 19 and who may be driving south.
Montgomery (MD) county teens Rachel Smith, 16 and
Rachel Crites, 18 have been missing since Jan.
19. Former FBI agents and the Center for Missing
and Exploited Children have taken the search nationwide.
According to a report by Washington DC radio station
WTOP (www.wtopnews.com)
the teens were supposed to be at a movie in Maryland on
Jan. 19 but a cell phone call that evening traced them
to Charles Town, West Virginia.
Police
in
Maryland
did not suspect foul play but an entry from Crites'
diary has concerned her family. The entry said "Wherever
I end up laying, whether buried or cremated, I want to
stay with my true love, buried next to her. This is my
choice. I'm sorry." The young women were driving a
dark blue 1997 Subaru Outback station wagon with a
Maryland license place MBJ-485. Anyone who has any
information is asked to call the Montgomery County
Police non-emergency telephone number at (301)
279-8000 or the Family Crimes Division at (240)
773-5400. Anyone who is uncomfortable speaking with
authorities may offer information at www.missingkids.com/sightings
or call 1-800-THE-LOST. Read details from Washington,

McDonald's Goes Trans
Fat-Free |
McDonald's Corp. has finally selected a new trans fat-free oil for cooking
its famous french fries after years of testing, the
fast-food chain said Monday. While it has developed a
healthier new oil, the company is still not saying when
it will be used in all 13,700
U.S.
restaurants. It already trails competitors in committing
to a zero-trans fat oil.
Spokesman Walt Riker said the oil is currently in more
than 1,200 U.S. restaurants after extensive testing, but
declined to provide details on timing or locations. "We
can confirm that we've got the right oil," he said.
"We're phasing it in." The choice of a new oil
comes as McDonald's and others face a July 1 deadline to
begin complying with an ordinance passed by New York
City last month making it the first U.S. city to ban all
restaurants from using artificial trans fats. Oak Brook,
Ill.-based McDonald's has said for months it would
comply with such a ban, and said it would introduce any
new oil nationwide rather than have a separate oil for
its New York restaurants. But it had not confirmed that
testing was complete. Riker said the new oil is
canola-based and includes corn and soy oils. Addressing
long-held concerns that changing the oil could
jeopardize the popular taste of its fries, he said: "We're
very confident in our test and taste results. ... We're
very confident in what we're hearing back from our
customers." The Chicago Tribune, which first
reported McDonald's decision on a new oil Sunday, said
the company has tested 18 varieties of oil in more than
50 blends during the past seven years. McDonald's had
been under pressure for moving more slowly than smaller
rivals Wendy's International Inc. and Yum
Brands Inc.'s KFC and Taco Bell to rid its oil of
the artery-clogging trans fats. The $22 billion company
was especially cautious after reneging within months on
a September 2002 pledge to introduce a new oil, citing
concerns about changing the taste of its fries. "It's
just taking a little bit of time because as we move
forward we don't want to jeopardize the iconic nature of
the french fry, which as you know is so very important
to our brand," CEO Jim Skinner told an
investor conference in New York two months ago. The
company uses a healthier oil blend in some countries
overseas but says regional differences in agricultural
production require development of different blends.
McDonald's has not identified the test markets the
latest oil was used in. Riker denied that
Phoenix was among them, as the Tribune report said. |

Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival |
In honor of recording artist,
George Harrison’s
Birthday (February 25),
the
Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival
(FLIFF) will present the film, The
Concert for Bangladesh.
This one time only showing will be held on Saturday,
February 24,
at 7:00p.m. at
Cinema Paradiso
(503 SE 6 Street). The event will be hosted by
Majic 102.7’s Joe Johnson
(Beatle fan and expert) who also hosts and produces the
weekly syndicated show
Beatle Brunch
heard on over 100 stations nationwide. Prior to the
screening, audience members will have a chance to
win DVDs of the concert, George Harrison books, and
CDs. After the film, Director
Saul Swimmer,
who recorded the legendary concert that made history,
will be on hand for an audience discussion. Former
Beatle, George Harrison, pooled some of the greatest
musicians of our time to perform in this very first
concert to benefit a humanitarian cause...The Concert
for Bangladesh. Held August 1, 1971 at New York's
Madison Square Garden,
this spectacular concert featured performances by
George Harrison, Ravi Shankar, Billy Preston, Bob Dylan,
Ringo Starr, Leon Russel and Eric Clapton
among others. This concert alerted the world to the
plight of Bangladeshis fighting a war of
independence. The event raised 15 million dollars for
UNICEF
and the people of Bangladesh. The tradition continues
and recent benefit concerts such as
Farm Aid, Live Aid, Band Aid, Live 8
and the
Tibetan Freedom Concert
have added a poignancy and awareness to causes that
might otherwise have been less visible to the general
public. As so aptly stated by UN Secretary General Kofi
Annan “George and his friends were Pioneers”.

Tim Gunn
Gets His Own Show on Bravo |
|
|
by Romeo San Vicente of
www.bgay.com
|
|
Perhaps
the sanest man in reality television, Tim Gunn -
the gay chair of the fashion design department at
Parsons The New School for Design - has become the
breakout star of Bravo's hit Project Runway,
thanks to his sage advice and dry personality. So it's
no surprise that the cable network - which often seems
to be even gayer than Logo and Here!
combined - is giving Gunn his very own show. Premiering
in July, Tim Gunn's Guide to Style
will feature the avuncular fashion guru helping everyday
folks with their wardrobe dilemmas and teaching them how
to develop their own personal looks. (Gunn's Guide
will start up just as Bravo's venerable Queer Eye for
the Straight Guy goes off to the TV graveyard.) If
anyone can take the flagging makeover genre and "make it
work," it's Gunn. To read more use this link,

Suzanne Westenhoefer Comes To South Florida with ‘Live
from the Ladies Room’ |
|

Looking for a good laugh? Then join the girls from
Ultra and Pandora events as they present one of
today’s comedy superstars, Suzanne Westenhoefer
in her new show “Live From the Ladies Room’. All
the fun takes place on Saturday, February 3rd at
the Byron Carlyle Theatre, 500 E. 71st Street on
Miami Beach. Fearless, Bold, Sparkly, and Hilarious,
that’s Suzanne Westenhoefer in a nutshell. She’s made a
career out of telling the truth. And, the truth is, life
is funny (and no one is off limits). From her sister’s
obsession with “Passion of the Christ” to her
girlfriend’s Herculean thighs, Suzanne tells stories
that leave audiences in stitches. Suzanne works mostly
unscripted, so when she hits the stage it’s an
unpredictable, original night of comedy magic. Since
winning her first comedy competition on a dare in the
early 1990s, Suzanne’s career has taken off. Suzanne
stars nightly on the GSN’s remake of the classic game
show, “I’ve Got a Secret,” entertaining audiences
as the “token girl” on a hilarious all-gay panel with
ex-Major League Baseball player Billy Bean, radio
icon
Frank DeCaro and Broadway’s Jermaine Taylor.
Notable television appearances include “The Late Show
with David Letterman,” “Politically Incorrect with Bill
Maher,” “Evening at the Improv,” “Caroline’s Comedy
Hour,” “Arli$$” and more. Her live comedy special “A
Night at the Village” runs on LOGO and Bravo.
She frequently appears as a commentator on E!, VH1
and Country Music Television. Her life in comedy
was chronicled in the documentary “Laughing Matters”
(2004). The first openly gay comedian in New York,
Suzanne did gay material to straight audiences in
mainstream comedy clubs. She was the first lesbian
comedian to garner an HBO Comedy Special, which earned
her a Cable Ace Award nomination. On land or at sea,
Suzanne delights audiences with over 100 performances a
year at theatres, clubs, colleges, fundraisers and
cruise and resort vacations (Olivia and RSVP Vacations).
Touring with the Indigo Girls and Ani DiFranco
made Suzanne wish she’d been born a rockstar. This event
is sponsored by She Magazine, Lesbian Lounge, Girls
In Wonderland and Kitty's Toy Box. Tickets start at
just $22.50. For additional information or to order
tickets, please call the hotline at (954) 288-8691. |

stories of bad break-ups, psycho ex's from hell and the
worst first dates in history. Mauro
Montoya, who lays claim to a few less than stellar
dates, will MC the evening. Sign up to read in advance
at
LWrites@mindspring.com. Audience members can just
show up, with or without a date. This free event takes
