One Missed Call
Umm It Was Good ***(Three Stars)
Ummm
It was Good, I guess. I just feel that film was better
suited for a WB program. Maybe I felt that way because I
recognized a few characters from their appearances on the
hit TV show
"Smallville."
Yes, One Missed Call was full of startling bangs and
creatures in the dark that make you jump. However it was
way too fresh and clean.
I have
a few positive things to say about One Missed Call. Without
these things I would have rated it "Don't Bother." The
writer and director did a great job of explaining the
hissing noises and the music box ring tone. You Leave the
theatre understanding how and why. I was also impressed with
the twist I didn't see coming in the end. Oh and there is a
cute little cameo from gay Icon
Margaret Cho.
The camera angles are not flattering on her at all, but it
is her. I support her breaking into serious roles (other
than being type cast as the Eskimo woman on northern
exposure).
One Missed Call
started to take on the feeling of
Final Destination
where you know who is going to die next. Only in this
film you know the exact time without all the suspense and
thrilling twists and loops. It really bothered me that the
lead girl Beth Raymond (Shannyn
Sossamon)
was close friends with everyone that died and was not called
sooner.
Somehow she was all up in the drama of the crimes or
accidents and
always lived. Sorry
if this spoils the movie for you, it shouldn't, you know the
central character always goes last.
The
movie was just too safe for me. Go see it if you're with a
teenager who wants to see a freaky or creepy movie. One
Missed Call will make you jump in your seats a few times,
but scare you... no it won't.
