clique or crabs, they all learn lessons and all come to terms with who
they really are.

Another Gay Sequel: Guys Gone Wild
finds Andy, Nico, Jarod and Griff reuniting
for Spring Break
at a Gay resort in Fort Lauderdale. They participate in a contest called 'Gays
Gone Wild!' to determine who can attain the most "buttlove" over the course of
the vacation. Wet Package contests, Evil Gay Fratboys, genital crabs the size of
rats and other antics and gags ensue, but who will get laid the most? |
The
sequel takes the four boys to the Gay Mecca of Fort Lauderdale and brings
them to some of the most famous landmarks. Niko, played by Jonah Biechman,
is the only one of the four friends returning from the original movie.
Unfortunately many of these local landmarks, like the
Schubert Resort (the center of most of the action) were whitewashed
until they were unrecognizable. That was a little disappointing to say the least. It's amazing how they had
to stop the action in the movie to plug a product, but they couldn't leave any
part of Fort Lauderdale identifiable. There were plenty of Fort Lauderdale
landmarks, but I guess the creators wanted a general feel for the area, not a
real feel.
As
with many spoofs, one of the main purposes of Another Gay Sequel is parody. If
you’re good you will catch; Showgirls, The Wizard of Oz, Ten, What Ever
Happened to Baby Jane and of course the big gay icon movie—Mommie Dearest.
There’s a parody of the “Vacation” video by the Go Gos and
Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video as well. More or less the boys
antics could best be described as The Gay Porky’s of 2008. It is great
for those of us out there with an off-beat sense of what’s funny who can laugh
at slap-stick humor, and a perfect flip to all of those cheesy straight
comedies. It’s about time we had something to identify with and laugh about
even if some things are blown way out of proportion. A prime example would be
when Niko discovers his fascination with Golden Showers, expect an almost
Ester Williams-esque performance with choreographed dancers and a
Broadway style score. Did I mention this is a movie not to take your
parents to?
Another
fun aspect of Another Gay Sequel would be the streaming lineup of celebrities.
While the guys are traveling from California to Florida by plane you will see
Amanda Lepore as the Transamerica Stewardess and Perez Hilton playing
himself. The movie also featured RuPaul as Tyrelle Tyrelle and host of
the weeklong gay sex competition Gays Gone Wild. Lady Bunny plays
Rupaul’s co-host Sandi Cove. Fans of Big Brother and Logo’s Round
Trip Ticket will find Wil Wikle as a Regina George/Mean Girls-eque
“It Girl” named Jasper. Fans of Gay Porn (you know who you are) will be happy
with cameos by both Colton Ford and Michael Lucas who help out
Griff (Aaron Michael Davies) and Jarod (Jimmy Clabots) with their
young romance. Be sure to look for miss Brent Corrigan as Niko’s Stan
the Merman. Scott Thompson returns as Mr. Wilson but sadly, Lypsinka
has only a brief cameo as Mrs. Wilson. Remember, it’s all about the boys!
Locally, you will see cameos by; Daisy D, Miss Kitty, Riley
Burke, and Schubert Owner Tony D. Check the group scenes for people
you might know!
Unfortunately
from the missing original cast to the fact that Another Gay Sequel could have
been filmed anywhere with a beach and sun (like a Hollywood back-lot), this
movie missed the mark on many levels. Why have even bothered to incur the
expense of filming in Fort Lauderdale?
All of
that said, this is a gay spoof movie and to expect anything more would be
insane. Go with a friend, it will make you laugh, blush, and say, “Pass the
Elbow Grease please”.
