The Invisible
Ummm It was Good *** (Three Stars)
Ummm, this movie was good. I believe I had higher
expectations for it and therefore I was not blown away. The
Invisible was not scary, suspenseful, or thrilling at all.
It is very much like the Sixth Sense "I see dead people"
only with a different mind trip at the end. You know he is
gone within the first half hour of the movie.
Fortunately
the story does have a twist at the end to give you a
surprise ending that you didn't see coming in the first half
of the movie. This was a great surprise. The subject matter
is of course something that everyone can relate to; even if
we personally don't know anyone that has passed away, Film
and Television have shown us that life is short and
expendable, leaving us to wonder what it would be like to be
dead. Have you ever wondered if some people really see and
talk to the dead? What if a dead person has a message?
Where can we find a Ghost Whisperer? This makes the story
perfect and ever so curious.
As far as the actual film is concerned the movie was fresh,
and clean, top quality/top notch. The character dynamic was
incredible. Nick Powell (Justin
Chatwin) -- The boy who had a terrible incident
leaving his spirit to roam the earth -- lives with his
widowed mother Diane (Marcia
Gay Harden). Diane having lost her husband when
Nick was only 13 is distant and focused on making everything
perfect especially the future, thus leaving Nick feeling
alone and confused. Even the kids at the high school have
great story lines. Annie Newton (Margarita
Levieva) is a troubled juvenile delinquent, and
then we have Nicks best friend the nerdy and spineless Pete
(Chris
Marquette). Their chemistry was real and genuine
as you see these kids interact at school and your heart goes
out to them in their dilemma's.
This movie was not even close to horrible. It was a fun and
interesting mediocre, and unmemorable. If you have a
fascination with the spirit realm I do think you should go
see it and therefore you will most definitely enjoy it.
PS -- Could really do without the line "I See....You"
(nope, not dead people) gag me LOL
