The hysterical Swedish Film, All About My Bush, is making it's American
debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival. All About My Bush is a
sex comedy
that takes place in two neighboring
suburban houses. When stylish couple Nils, Karin and their teenage child move
into a modern and lavish house next to a
botanical garden taken care of by two
eccentric sisters and their young teenage brother, mayhem, to say the least, ensues.
The sisters and their younger brother have obviously been a little affected by
the industrial size containers of DDT they use to keep the bugs and molds in
their garden under control. If the bug spray doesn't have them whacked out
enough, there are mushrooms that will do the trick.
Coincidentally, Nils happens to control the annual grant that funds the
botanical garden and keeps the sisters off the street and employed.
Watching All About My Bush, I was reminded of the first time I saw Weekend at
Bernie's and how I just laughed my ass off. The movie also brought about
memories of I Heart Huckabees, The Royal Tennenbaums and a number of Woodie
Allen films.
In one scene, Karin hears some noise in the pond outside of the house during the
night and goes exploring. One of the loony neighbor sisters is skinny dipping.
Karin decides to join in and at about that moment Nils hears the two women
frolicking around and ends up climbing a tree to watch. Who would do that? A
little turned on at the whole sight, Nils starts whacking off. When he reaches
the point of no return... well you'll have to watch the film to see what
happens.
The Skinny dipping turns into an affair between Karin and the chubbier of the
two sisters. Karin's displays of affection are bizarre to say the least and poor
Nils (who happens to be very good looking) is driven into a crazed and jealous
frenzy that appears to have no bounds. The adults in this movie actually make
the two teenagers that spend most of their time in a humungous tree house strung
out on mushrooms seem sane in comparison.
This is another FLIFF film you simply don't want to miss. Every line is well
written, the movie is well acted and the cinematography equals that of any
Hollywood film. If they make many movies of this quality in Sweden, we need them
to send of a few more over to the States.
Five stars to All About My Bush.
