The Break Up
Romantic Comedy. Pushed to the breaking-point after their
latest, “why can’t you do this one little thing for me?”
argument, art dealer Brooke (Jennifer Aniston) calls it
quits with her boyfriend, Gary (Vince Vaughn), who hosts bus
tours of Chicago. What follows is a series of remedies, war
tactics, overtures, and undermining suggested by the former
couple’s friends, confidantes and the occasional total
stranger. 105 minutes. MPAA Rating: PG-13 (for sexual
content, some nudity and language).

Ladies and Gentlemen this is not a fairy tale, however it is
a very enjoyable and extremely realistic look into a the
lives of Gary (Vince
Vaughn) and Brooke (Jennifer
Aniston), and or should I say into their break
up. |
|
The opening scene with the hot dog guy where Gary hits on
Brooke is hilarious and sets the tone for their relationship
-- he's full of funny quips and she a beautiful girl who
finds him amusing. Their on screen chemistry is
spectacular, I also love their paring for this film in that
Gary is a bit chubby and Brooke is hot as hell and yet still
is still very much in love with him. |
|
I have always been a big fan of
Vince Vaughn and always
thought that
Jennifer Aniston was
amazingly beautiful however that she couldn't act to save
her life. That is unless she was acting as her self, or
Rachael from TV's Friends. In this movie she played a very
true to every day life character, and it was indeed
believable. Their relationship was normal, and they had
normal/typical arguments yet after they started to pile up
and she got fed up they broke up.
|
|
I found that I became compassionate to
Jennifer Aniston and
her internal workings as she tried to figure out what her
next move would be, even if her next move was not the best
of moves at all, where instead of playing chess with their
lives they should have just had open and honest
communication. |
|
I should also tell you the supporting cast is
phenomenal,
Joey Lauren Adams who
plays Brooke's best friend (Maddie) and the super hot bear
Jon Favreau who plays
Gary's best friend (Johnny) are both great in their roles as
advice givers. In fact if you can wait till the scene where
Jon Favreau and
Vince Vaughn are in the
bar and
Jon is wearing the Club
Med T-Shirt he gives the most incredible advice, and I was
most impressed. |
|
This movie is full of super funny one liners and here is
my favorite: Brooke and Gary are fighting and they are
taking jabs at each others family and Gary calls her sister
a slut and she said. "My sister has been through a lot" and
he says "Of Dick" |
|
This movie is truly enjoyable, you will definitely laugh and
most importantly you will relate and understand even if the
outcome is not exactly a romantic comedy as it has lead you
to believe. It was psychologically accurate and had
incredible dialog with battling wits, and even though you
see the flaws in each character you cannot help but love
them and sympathize with them.

PS. there is a super queenie gay guy as the receptionist
at Brooke's job and he wears heavy lip gloss, can be
annoying and yet fun. |
