Sweet Pockets is Atlanta’s first
cupcake shop where all things revolve around the little bundles of sweet
goodness! Cupcakes are baked fresh every morning from scratch by the
cupcake girl, Lennie [short for LeNora] King and her crew. She is a
former Architect who traded in her drafting equipment for some baking
equipment. After months of testing and experimenting and many cupcake
parties later, Sweet Pockets launched its product at the Beehive Co-op
the weekend after Thanksgiving 2006 and amazingly enough people still
had room in their stomachs for cupcakes!
2007 brought on new adventures for Sweet Pockets as the company set up
shop in the Kings Circle Market located in the Peachtree Hills
neighborhood. With great sadness, the owners of Kings Circle Market
closed their doors at the end of June and the cupcake girl relocated to
their other store, Irwin Street Market in the Old Fourth Ward/ Inman
Park area. Along with setting up her new kitchen, she opened up Sweet
Pockets’ first shop.
2008 started off with a 24 hour, 5000 mini cupcake bake-off for
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s 10th Anniversary event. But, the best
adventure was the opening of our storefront in the heart of Vinings in
August, which was followed by another 5000 cupcake bake-off! Thanks for
the neighborly welcome, Home Depot Headquarters! So, stop by and try
some cupcakes! According to the cupcake girl, the best part of eating a
cupcake is peeling back the paper liner and figuring out where and how
to take that first bite! Yumm…
Sweet Pockets Cupcakes is
located across from the Old Vinings Inn and next to the SunTrust
Bank…look for the cupcake sign!!
