New York Times: Congressional
leaders and the Bush administration reached a tentative
agreement early Sunday on what may become the largest financial
bailout in American history, authorizing the Treasury to purchase
$700 billion in troubled debt from ailing firms in an extraordinary
intervention to prevent widespread economic collapse.
Breakthrough Reached in Negotiations on Bailout
Washington Blade:
Last week, Patrick Sammon, president
of Log Cabin Republicans, wrote an op-ed piece in the Blade
supporting Sen. John McCain. Sammon explained how another
Republican administration would be “good for all Americans —
including gays and lesbians.” This is an assault on common sense. As
president, McCain would be beholden to the same people, instituting
the same policies, and advocating the same positions as George Bush.
Nothing will change with McCain because everything will be the same.
Americans, especially lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender
Americans, cannot be confused — a vote for John McCain is a vote for
four more years of the same. Barack Obama is the only candidate
offering real and substantive change in this election.
An assault on common sense
New York Times: Never before
have gay story lines been so prominent. Nor have there ever been so
many gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender characters on television
— 83 by a recent count from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against
Defamation, not counting reality shows, daytime dramas or
gay-oriented cable networks.

Mag: We knew it would be challenging to start our Sunday morning with the
hotness level we have reached yesterday morning ... But we love challenges and I

Queerty:
Ladies and gentleman, meet the new Josh Peters. You remember
our former Morning Goods selection, who complained about
"finding myself on these stupid gay sites"? Now Genre magazine is facing a
similar scenario with straight model, aspiring actor, University
of Central Florida student, and former Queerty Morning Goods
choice Benjamin Massing, who was featured in the magazine's
March/April issue and says the "cruel and vulgar" shot has subjected
him to unwanted advances and harassment from gay men. So he's taking
Genre and photographer Rick
Day to court, claiming invasion of privacy.
Model Ben Massing Sues Over Gay Attention
As an Internet company, Google is an
active participant in policy debates surrounding
information access, technology and energy.
Because our company has a great diversity of
people and opinions -- Democrats and
Republicans, conservatives and liberals, all
religions and no religion, straight and gay --
we do not generally take a position on issues
outside of our field, especially not social
issues. So when Proposition 8 appeared on
the California ballot, it was an unlikely
question for Google to take an official company
position on.
However, while there are many objections to
this proposition -- further government
encroachment on personal lives, ambiguously
written text -- it is the chilling and
discriminatory effect of the proposition on many
of our employees that brings Google to publicly
oppose Proposition 8. While we respect the
strongly-held beliefs that people have on both
sides of this argument, we see this
fundamentally as an issue of equality. We hope
that California voters will vote no on
Proposition 8 -- we should not eliminate
anyone's fundamental rights, whatever their
sexuality, to marry the person they love.

Huffington Post: Sarah Palin's
1984 beauty pageant swimsuit competition video has hit the web. An
Alaskan has uploaded what he claims to be 100% real footage
of Sarah Palin in a red tank suit in the 1984 Miss Alaska contest.
She walks out, does a 360, walks further, turns around again, and
then walks off.
Sarah Palin's Beauty Pageant Swimsuit Competition Footage (VIDEO)
National Review Online:
[Editors note: This is written by a Republican] If
at one time women were considered heretical for swimming upstream
against feminist orthodoxy, they now face condemnation for swimming
downstream — away from Sarah Palin. To express reservations about
her qualifications to be vice president — and possibly president —
is to risk being labeled anti-woman. ... Palin’s recent interviews
with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all
revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly
Out Of Her League.
