Out
Boys Movie Night - Almost Normal (2005).
Brad is 40, gay and not partnered. On his way home to
attend his dysfunctional parents' 45th Anniversary an
accident lets him go back in time to high school where
he sees himself as straight and "alone" in a school
where all the "normal" boys like boys and the girls like
girls. The first time in school he fancied the star of
the basketball team and knew he couldn't get him. Now
he's there and the star is hoping to make it with him.
Brad couldn't fix a car or do lots of other "straight"
appearing things. Now he can and it makes him different.
He doesn't like it. He comes out as straight in high
school during the second visit and is attacked for
it. The boy he wanted as a boyfriend turns out to be his
friend and the girl he wanted as a friend turns out to
be his girlfriend. Handled with humor and sincerity by a
cast that handled the job well. Best Quote: " If God
had wanted a man and a woman together, he would have
made women like football." Suggested Donation $2.
Discussion after movie if time permits. Movie starts
promptly @ 7PM at the Library. |

"Viva Pedro!
",
A
Tribute
to Pedro Almodóvar,
presented by Emerging Cinemas.
Women
on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown
This first
film in a series of 8 within Viva Pedro!, a
Tribute to Pedro Almodovar presented by Emerging
Cinemas. Starring Antonio Banderas, Women on the
Verge of a Nervous Breakdown is one of Almodovar’s
most popular films. A woman's lover leaves her, and she
tries to contact him to find out why he's left. She
confronts his wife and son, who are as clueless as she.
Meanwhile her girlfriend is afraid the police are
looking for her because of her boyfriend's criminal
activities. They talk to a female lawyer, who turns out
to be the lover's new lover, and everyone's path keeps
crossing each other's in a very complicated and
confusing manner.

Metro
Pictures: Part 2
You
may be wondering if this show has to deal with the Metro
Golden Mayer Production Company…no. Metro Pictures
“refers to snapshots of the city” and that the works
“define, interpret and/or reject the city.” This show
is wide open to interpretation and includes stuff like a
set of musical vests that “only when two participants
wear them…do the sculptures emit sound.” The exhibit is
on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art until
September 17th. The Museum is located at 770
NE 125th Street in North Miami. You can
either call 305*893-6211 or visit them on the web at
www.mocanomi.org for further information.

This is a queasy mystery-horror story
about a geek who writes murder stories. He is being
interrogated by hard-bitten detectives who think he is
not making up his stories. This play is at
GableStage in Coral Gables’s Biltmore Hotel. For
more information, call 305*445-1119. |
