The Pillowman at GableStage in Coral Gables’s Biltmore Hotel.

This is a queasy mystery-horror story about a geek who writes murder stories.  He is being interrogated by hard-bitten detectives who think he is not making up his stories.  This play is at GableStage in Coral Gables’s Biltmore Hotel.  For more information, call 305*445-1119.

The Mystery of Irma Vep a wonderfully crafted play with only two actors playing over 20 parts will be appearing at The Actor’s Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables July 12th thru September 3rd.  The Theatre is located at 280 Miracle Mile in Coral Gables and tickets can be purchased online at www.actorsplayhouse.org  or for further information call them at 305*444-9293.

Metro Pictures: Part 2

You may be wondering if this show has to deal with the Metro Golden Mayer Production Company…no.  Metro Pictures “refers to snapshots of the city” and that the works “define, interpret and/or reject the city.”  This show is wide open to interpretation and includes stuff like a set of musical vests that “only when two participants wear them…do the sculptures emit sound.”  The exhibit is on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art until September 17th.  The Museum is located at 770 NE 125th Street in North Miami.  You can either call 305*893-6211 or visit them on the web at www.mocanomi.org for further information.

THE MUSIC OF ROOTS IS DEEP HOUSE. Tribal drumbeats, sexy basslines, soaring gospel-inspired vocals.  It is dark, deep, hot, sensual, sexual, rich and makes you feel high - like your soul is flying through space in a peaceful radiant communion with each other and the world and the universe kind of high.

I can only compare it to legendary clubs you may have heard of but few have ever been: Body & Soul (NY), The World (NY), The Choice (NY),
Paradise Garage (NY), and the very first Sound Factory (NY)
.

This new club,  STUDIO A is perfect for ROOTS... warm, intimate, and cozy, but not too small. Like being at a pumping house party but with top quality sound and lights. Check it out at www.studioamiami.com

THE DJ's are some of the best, most knowledgeable and most experienced, with house music of all kinds. I have chosen them to be part of THE ROOTS MUSIC COLLECTIVE because they are great artists. They may not be famous names to some... but what they are is respected and acclaimed by the people who actually make the music.

THE ROOTS MUSIC COLLECTIVE IS:

DJ
BILL KELLY
, (NY, Miami) is the founder the famed Winter Music Conference. Nobody is more entrenched in the house music community than him. For 20 years he has been at the helm of putting the week long international gathering together, producing songs and DJing. His annual house parties for the artists who make the music are beloved and the invites coveted... and now he comes out to play for us.

DJ FRANK DELOUR (NY, Miami) is an amazing artist I have know for nearly 20 years. He is the resident DJ for Vogue Magazine's events. He is currently a resident at BED in NY and has produced remixes for everyone from Mary J. Blige to Usher and R. Kelly to his latest for Nina Simone. He plays faster tracks in the soulful Ibiza deep house style with lots of influences from Worldbeat to Euro-house. Very high energy, inspirational, exciting while remaining true to his NY and Chicago House roots.

DJ CHILLY (Miami, Switzerland, Amsterdam
) will simply make you horny. This man plays music for sex, for sensuality, for seduction. He creates a mood that will make you hot if you aren't already. As a producer/artist he is signed to Ivano Bellini's record label, Beat Touch Records. He is the resident DJ at Casa Tua and at the Delano Hotel. His latest chill out compilation "Miami Deeper Lounge 2" is in stores now. Chilly is really looking forward to breaking free into a higher energy deeper house sound with all of us at Roots.

Join me MICHAEL TRONN, with these talented artists, and the wondrous personalities of MICHAEL STANLEY & JIUSSANA, along with our friends and community of sponsors, on Labor Day Sunday.

Ella, This musical is about Jazz icon Ella Fitzgerald who invites her favorite musicians to play with her in 1966. This takes place at the Florida Stage which is located at 262 South Ocean Blvd, Manalapan.  Call 561*585-3433 or go to www.floridastage.org  for more information.
