The First Annual
Iron Ladies Charity Golf Classic is not just a great day out on the
links; it’s also for a great cause —Women’s Health. The fun takes place on
Saturday, October 14th at one of South Florida’s premiere golf courses and will benefit the
Women’s Community Fund’s new Health Initiative. The Women’s Community Fund (WCF),
well known for it’s signature fund-raising weekend, Aqua Girl, is a
non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the equality, strength, health
and visibility of South Florida’s lesbian, bisexual and transgender women
through education, awareness, it’s grants program, new scholarship program and
health initiative. The Iron Ladies 1st Annual Golf Classic, will be hosted at
the Palm Aire Country Club in Pompano and golfers will play 18 holes of
golf, as well as, compete in a $10,000 Hole In One Challenge and
Longest Drive and Closest to hole contest.
Teams will also be awarded prizes for best score and worst score. After the
golfing is complete guests will head over to local bar and café, New Moon
in Wilton Manors for a festive cocktail reception and awards ceremony featuring
a premium open bar, silent auction and a scrumptious buffet. Awards and prizes
will be announced. This year’s inaugural event is chaired by community activist,
Carol Moran along with a committee of dedicated women who hope to not
only raise funds but also create awareness about LBT health issues. WCF Board,
President Alison Burgos stated "We are thrilled to have an event that
brings all of
South Florida together on this important issue. It should be a great day
of fun. We are also excited about so many great sponsors coming on board for our
1st year including: Nike Golf, Express Gay News, Reebok, Coors Light, New Moon
and Chic Optique." Whether you play golf or not you can be part of the fun.
The Golfer package includes entry fee, greens fees, cart, gift bag and cocktail
reception all for just $100. For patrons who would just like to attend the
cocktail reception the price is just $35 and includes the open bar and
scrumptious buffet. To sign up visit www.womenscommunityfund.org or call
