Caragiulos
has been a fixture on Palm Avenue and a Sarasota tradition for
eons and now they have a location in their
sister city to the north, Bradenton.
The extensive menu includes just about every Italian dish you
can imagine, but it's the pizza (and the hot bartenders) that keep us going
back.
When you walk through the door, you instantly
know that you've found your way into the real deal, a family owned and operated
restaurant. In fact, it's run by a father and his five sons. This wildly popular
restaurant started out as a bakery in Brooklyn, NY and found it's way into the
heart of Sarasota's theater and arts district. Art galleries, theaters, bars and
hundreds of shops line the surrounding streets.
Now let's talk pizza! My long time favorite has been the Da
Vinci with sausage, mushroom and pepperoni, that
you see pictured above. But every now and then I
switch things up and try Joe da Greek with calamata olives, baby spinach,
feta and tomato or Margherita with roma tomato, basil and housemade
mozzarella. There is also Bianca, a white pizza, Palermo with
blackened chicken, and Farmhouse for the no meat folks. The pizzas all
come in one size and one price. One pizza feeds one person with a slice or two
leftover that tastes great cold.
The dough is made on premise and the crust is thin and crunchy
New York style. Caragiulos offers fantastic food, a beautiful restaurant and a
superb location. What more could you ask for?

One final thought before you move on to number 9. The fact
that Caragiulos came in at number ten tells how highly we think of every pizza
restaurant included in our first Best of Florida, Book of Tens List. These
restaurants are exceptional places to dine. Congratulations to every business
owner that made it onto this exclusive list! |
