what is seems to me, many years ago. It is an odd
piece, semi-rusted, and yet, there is fresh mulch around

Surface Piercing
Do
you look twice nowadays at eyebrow, tongue, or even nose
piercings? Well, unique has reached a whole new
level—Surface Piercing. In this process, both the
entrance and exit holes lie on the same plane of skin;
the stud does not go through muscle tissue or
cartilage. Most common places are: the nape of the
neck, cleavage, collarbones, and the back. People who
do it now are mostly after the shock value. The Madison
piercing is done in the soft area between the
collarbones. Surface piercing starts at $75 and is done
with the same equipment as other piercing and poses the
same risks for infections. |

We Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Badges!
Tehran’s
radical leaders passed a Nazi-style law requiring Jews
and Christians to wear identifying badges. The law,
approved by Iran’s Parliament last week says that there
should be, “separate dress codes for religious
minorities: Christian, Jews, and Zoroastrians, who will
have to adopt distinct color schemes to make them
identifiable in public.” Jews will be forced to wear
yellow cloth strips, like the Star of David that Jews
had to wear in Nazi Germany while Christians will have
to war red strips—purpose being: to protect Muslims
from becoming “unclean” by accidentally shaking hands
with them.
Pink
Palace Guards
Days
before Pink was to perform this past Saturday at the
Prince’s Trust event in London, where the Queen was to
attend, Pink wrote Her Majesty and asked her to replace
the palace guards’ famed bearskin hats with faux fur.
If you will recall, Pink also had problems with the
Royal Family in the past—refusing to perform for Prince
William’s 21st birthday because weeks before
he was seen out hunting with Prince Charles. For months
before this event last week, there was a protester in a
bear costume following around Mummy and Chazz begging
them to “save my skin.” |

write his autobiography My Life in 2004. Simon &
Schuster will publish the book in January. This deal
knocks Clinton to Number 2 in the list of richest
nonfiction book contracts and former Federal Chairman
Alan Greenspan (who received $8.5 million) to Number 3.
Now the question is, is she going to make is an Oprah
Book Club book?

agreed to meet with The Oprah around the time it

Don’t Cry For Me Mis Tejanos
Eleven
years after her murder, Tejano Queen Selena has
become a hit in Mexico’s capital. Selena, a Texas-born
sensation, is receiving a new round of attention and
adulation with a new Broadway-style musical that
chronicles her meteoric career and tragic death. Played
by Mexican singer and former child star Lidia Avila,
Selena and Tejano music can be revived at the Teatro
Blanquita. Producers hope that Selena The Musical, with
multi-million dollar production costs, can raise the
profiles she embodied. Tejano is a genre of
polka-infused music that originated among Mexican
Americans in central and southern
Texas several decades ago. Fans will be amazed at the 18
costume changes and 25 musical numbers, and focuses on

Muppets Take the Smithsonian
The
Muppets, and their ancestors have gone on prominent
display Thursday at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of
American History. The collection includes an early
version of Kermt the Frog, which was fashioned from
scraps of creator Jim Henson’s mother’s discarded green
coat and two halves of a ping-pong ball. Kermit, who
turned 50 in October, made his debut on WRC-TV, a
Washington
station, which gave Henson—then a
University of
Maryland Freshman,
a five-minute show that aired twice nightly. The
display runs through September 4th, consists
of two exhibits, one being Sam and Friends cast
that also has Rowlf the Dog, the Swedish Chef, and other
Muppet characters. The other being all the technical
innovations he contributed to puppetry. One major
innovation was puppets that moved by remote control
instead of strings. Sometimes it is easy being green! |
